100 Word Story :
Percy staggered through the forest until he came upon an unfamiliar sight. Appearing before him was a camp almost exactly like Camp-Half Blood.
As he entered the gates, he was met by many demigods. They introduced themselves as sons and daughters of Hindu gods and how excited they were to meet Poseidon's son.
Soon the headmaster of the camp, Guru Venkaswami approached Percy. He had asked Percy to arrive to the camp, so that he could join forces in their fight against the fearsome Rakshi.
Together Percy and Rahul, son of Indra, would attempt to defeat the evil demon.
Two sentence story:
Percy Jackson arrived to the Hindu Demigod Camp in need of assistance. Rahul, son of Indra, and Percy would travel together to defeat the Rakshi demon.
Sources: There was no particular source for this story other than my previous readings of Percy Jackson and Indian stories.
Author's Note: I am a big Percy Jackson fan, so I thought it would be cool to introduce the story to Hindu mythology. With the many gods in Hindu mythology, I figured it could work to have demigods like there were in Greek mythology. I also decided to end the story on a quest in case I want to further explore this plot line.
Percy Jackson, one of my favorite series and what inspired this story
Hey, Neal!
ReplyDeleteI loved how this story was able to blend Riordan's great storytelling and worldbuilding with the gods of Hindu mythology. The Percy Jackson series was one that got my attention for sure, and I very dearly loved the five books that I owned and read. I had not yet thought about what that series would look like with gods from outside the Greek mythology, but your story has given me quite some ideas. It would certainly be interesting to see this expanded upon in other microfictions.
Cheers,
Chris
Hi Neal,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your stories since Percy Jackson was a big part of my childhood as well. It's a really interesting concept to see the two worlds collide and how each character would react to the different pantheons. I am excited to see if you expand on this and how you go about it.
I'll make sure to check in periodically for it!
Rohit
Hi Neal,
ReplyDeleteI really like the link to Percy Jackson. I read many, maybe even all, of the books growing up and saw the movies when they came out. These stories seem like a nice start to, hopefully, more involved stories in the future. I would really like to see how you manage to blend Percy Jackson and the Indian epics we have been reading.
Hey Neal! wow! what a great story post! I am also I big fan of the Percy Jackson series. I have read most of them but have not read the last few. I also saw the book and was very disappointed in it. I felt like it definitely was not as good as the book but to my surprise many people enjoyed it! It was such a creative idea to instead of doing classic greak mythology gods to do hindu gods. I also feel like this would be a great idea for a project as well! I wonder if this story were to continue who would the villians be! what if the villian would be someone like Ravana the demon king or create a daughter or son his that could be the main antagonist. Might even be cool to see a group of demigods from villians too! Keep up the great work and best wishes!
